The BIT Lalpur Campus, Ranchi (Jharkhand state-capital) started initially with part-time courses MCA, MBA, M. Tech.(CS) and full time cources B. Sc. (Electronics).The city being an important industrial and commercial hub, the primary objective of the centre was the benefit of officers working in various Ranchi based Public Sector Undertakings, Private industries, Banks, etc, who wished to upgrade their educational qualifications.
Currently the Lalpur Extension Centre has over 1768 students on its rolls of which almost 560 are postgraduate students.
